What About Our Mission?

Exactly what is the Foundation To Inspire and Improve Humans?

The Mission Coordinator

Hello, I am Kent Mickelson. This Foundation only represents an idea, It does not collect or disperse money. Although I support it, as a personal mission, it actually has no revenue. The idea is that people who visit this site will embrace its mission, but not give money. I would have to refuse any attempt to give money, unless I change the idea and purpose I have indicated. Using the site I will provide concrete information for others to ponder and will share ideas for mission tools. At this time this Foundation is not really a legal entity with respect to the IRS since it has no revenue to tax. Don't send money but rather be inspired to share and improve yourself. I don't want anyone to get the idea that I have tried to form as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Why am I here?

The Motivation behind the creation of this web site and the name "Foundation To Inspire and Improve Humans" began while I was an officer of the student branch of the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers) at the University of Texas at Austin . I had decided we should do a service for the college by making, stocking, and placing umbrella holders in the various buildings of the college. Then in a sudden downpoor people could use one of those umbrellas to walk to another building and leave their borrowed umbrella in the holder in that building. The problem I found was that when I surveyed the rest of the officers they said the plan would fail - people would steal the umbrellas. I asked "Would you steal an umbrella?", The response always seemed to be "I wouldn't steal an umbrella, but you can't trust anyone else."

As a Lutheran Christian I have always been told that we are both sinners and saints. However, many people seem to focus on an incorrect image in themselves or their neighbor. The ironic thing is that at the same time we consider it a true statement to say that God works through all people, even atheists. Furthermore, it is a true notion to say that the Holy Spirit dwells in the heart and mind of each Child of God. My goal is consistent with a book I have read titled Bringing Out the Best in People by Alan Loy McGinnis. Since the Holy Spirit is available to do good work through each of us, I expect we can actually focus more on the saint in ourselves than we do. The reality often is that people often behave in a fashion consistent with the self-image that is held. Do you think this is true for societies as well as individuals?
